Our Summer Coasters
Stay Cool and Hydrated: Our Coasters are Here to Help!
As the sweltering heat of summer bears down on us, it’s important to stay cool and hydrated to avoid heat sickness. This is especially true for those who are disabled or elderly, as they are more vulnerable to the negative effects of high temperatures. At our company, we want to help people prepare for the heat wave by presenting these coasters. They serve as a reminder to stay hydrated and to take precautions to stay cool. In this article, we have compiled a list of tips that will help you navigate the summer months in comfort.
1. Keep Fans Close-by: Fans are a great way to cool off and a simple solution that everyone can use. Whether it’s a floor fan or a personal fan that clips onto your desk, make sure to keep one nearby. In addition, some fans come with remote controls, making it easier for those who can’t get up to adjust the settings themselves.
2. Wear Cool Clothing: When it’s hot outside, wear lightweight clothing made from breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen. This will help you feel cooler by allowing air to circulate around your body.
3. Check Your Medication: Some medications can dehydrate you, making it important to check the side effects listed on the packaging. If your medication causes dehydration, you may need to drink more fluids than you normally would.
4. Plan Your Day Around the Weather: The heat of the day is usually at its highest from 10 am to 4 pm, so plan your activities accordingly. If you need to be outside during this time, try to stay in the shade or use an umbrella for protection from the sun.
5. Keep a List of Emergency Contacts: If you or a loved one are at risk for heat stroke, it’s important to have a list of emergency contacts on hand. This way, if you need to be admitted to the hospital for dehydration or other heat-related illnesses, you can quickly get in touch with family or friends.
6. Keep Drinking: Drinking enough water is essential to staying hydrated during summer. On a normal day, you should drink 6 to 8 glasses of water, but in hot weather, it’s best to drink more. For those who have difficulty drinking, such as elderly individuals with dementia, you can try offering drinks with different colours, jelly drops, or even fluid-based foods like ice cream, jelly, custard, and yogurt.
We hope these tips help you stay cool, hydrated, and safe this summer! At our company, our goal is to make life easier for those who need it the most. That’s why we have designed these coasters as a simple reminder to keep drinking fluids and to stay cool during the heat wave. Remember, taking care of yourself is the first step to enjoying the summer months in comfort and relaxation.
